Afterwork
It’s one of the most appreciated “non-traditional traditions”, which people and students in this country have grown fond of. Every Friday, some pubs and restaurants have Afterwork specials with a free buffet and happy hour prices in the bar.
Sauna Trip
What is a Sauna?
Well, a sauna is basically a small cabin which has a heating facility. This enables the cabin to have raised levels of temperature, usually in the order of 70 – 90°C. We must mention that Chalmers owns one of the biggest wood fired saunas in all of Scandinavia. This monster can seat up to 60 people at the same time!
So, What is a “Sauna Trip”?
For this trip you will leave from Chalmers on a bus and travel about 45 minutes to a beautiful lake called Sandsjön, East of Gothenburg. The Sauna sits on the very edge of the lake, so you can swim as well! The Sauna is in a cosy cabin that has a kitchen and dining area with a fireplace.
After you get there, you will have fun playing some games and chopping wood for the Sauna, after which you will be able to get ready to get into the Sauna which will probably by now be nice, hot and ready for you! Once you are done with the Sauna, we will serve you some snacks or the very famous SWEDISH FIKA in the dining hall where you will be able to eat, sing, drink and be merry until it is time for you to leave!
Games and Sports Night
During this event you will have access to numerous board and team games from the CIRC office and to the motion hall in the student union building. It is a good occasion to pass the time together and to meet more students while playing and having fun.
International Dinner
Wouldn’t it be awesome to be able to taste food from all over the world while also showing off famous food from your home country? The international dinner is your event then! Every participant cooks and brings a few portions of food that is specific to their own nationality. This then turns into a buffet of food from all over the world!
Additionally, we will focus on socialising and more unique parts of your country, so use the open stage and sing traditional songs or just tell famous jokes that just don’t work in English.
Info: Please be aware of allergies and food preferences while making your food and if you can substitute an ingredient to another one that more people can enjoy, it would be much appreciated! Also please note that due to restrictions, this is a non-alcoholic event and any kind of alcohol is not permitted!
Finale
They say that all good things must come to an end, and so it is now time for the Spring Reception to also reach its official end. We hope to do this together in one last gathering we call the Finale, where we get to look back on the weeks that have been and the things that you guys have done and experienced. Hope to see you there!”
